Book Musings: Clean Slate by Aleksandr Voinov and Barbara Sheridan

Finally!  I've been trying to get a review for Clean Slate done for awhile now.  Just too much going on lately.  Yay, I got it done and it fits the whole Barbara Sheridan week thing too.  Another bonus for me.

Yay me!

I am Amora, codename Black Mamba, so of course yay me.

So, after all these weeks, I bring you...Black Mamba's much awaited itty-bitty review-ish review...

Clean Slate by Aleksandr Voinov and Barbra Sheridan

Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (April 21, 2010)
Category:  Novellas
Book Type: eBook
Price:  $ 3.99

The "hit" American Chris Gibson and British-born John Soong are ordered to carry out on Russian mob affiliate Andrei Voronin doesn't go exactly as planned. Voronin has already been shot when they arrive, but he's clinging to life. GORGON, the international intelligence and paramilitary agency John and Chris work for agree with John that Voronin may be more valuable alive than dead.

The failed assassination turns to an undercover intel operation as monogamous-minded John and manwhore Chris portray lovers who came to Monaco to meet with and form a personal triad with the now amnesiac Andrei. This operation takes its own unexpected turn as the men bond and clash and try to outwit the Russians who've realized Andrei is still alive.

My Review:  5 out of 5 stars

I found this to be one hot, action packed little book.

Cloak and dagger action, three guys and plenty of hotness, Clean Slate grabbed me from the very beginning. Chris and John the partners who want each other but “if only”, the hit that goes awry, Andrei the amnesiac, Russian mobsters, it was all there.  There was no putting this one down once I started.

I loved the characters, each one unique, intriguing, and their reactions to the new twists in their situations very believable. I’d be hard pressed to pick a favorite, I loved both Chris and John, but it was Andrei with his amnesia, and the way he goes through trying to figure out what is or isn’t that did it for me.

By the end of the book, I was left completely satisfied.  I’m not a fan of the shorter books; they often feel rushed and leave me feeling cheated.  With plenty of action, well written characters, hot sex, all packed into a novella, 5 stars from me.

I can’t wait for the sequel!

  1. I am going to have to get this one! i have so many books on my TBR list that I'll never get them read during my lifetime. Sigh.

Black Mamba, do you offer your services to friends? You seem like someone who could come in and take care of my annoying coworkers and that one student who ruins my day.

  2. Thanks, Amora. Happy you enjoyed it :)

  3. @Eyre: My TBR looks the same. I always move Aleksandr Voinov's up to the tippy-top top thou, love his writing.

    @Aleksandr: You're welcome. I loved it :)

I love the way you two write together, wanted to talk about that in the review too- couln't figure out how, couldn't get it to come out right :(

  4. @Eyre: I don't offer my services as a rule, but for you, yes, I will. No pressure, I'll take care of 'em for you. I can't have them causing you any unpleasantness, I rely on your blog for many of my smiles. We can't have them messing with your day!

  5. Wonderful review, Amora. Sounds interesting.

  6. @Lily: Thanks. I'm pretty new at this cloak and dagger thing, as far as my reading anyway. I am REALLY liking it. These two are really good...I can't wait to read a full lenth by them.
