Interview and Giveaway: Kayla Jameth

Guess what guess what?!  My friend Kayla Jameth is here to tell me all about her upcoming release, to share a little morsel AND to play giveaway!  Yaaaaaaay!  So.gather round and say howdo!

Amara: *opens door*…Kayla! Come in, come in, have a seat.  Can I get you something to drink?  Coffee, tea, alcohol…?

Kayla: Do you have a nice chai?  Extra cinnamon.

Amara: As a matter of fact, I do.  Make yourself comfortable and I’ll be right back with that.

So you have a story in the upcoming Breathless Press anthology, Addicktion, that is so great, congratulations m’dear.   So tell me all about it…

Kayla: Thank you so much.  “Legends” is my debut m/m short story.  It will be appearing in Breathless Press’ anthology “Addicktion.”  I’ve just written for a few friends and for my own enjoyment to date.  I hadn’t planned on becoming a published author, but someone saw some of my work.  And the rest, as they say, is history…  Well, the good kind of history I hope!

Legends” is a short story about a very special birthday gift.  Austin wants to give his lover a night to remember at the new concept restaurant Legends where your dreams come true.

Amara: Oooo sound good, can’t wait to check it out.  Tell me, what inspired it?

Kayla: That is a story in and of itself.  I have a good collection of photos on Facebook and several of the m/m authors who are my friends used to comment on the photos being great for plot bunnies.  So I started a FB group called Inspired Writing.  We pick a photo and write a story for it.  One of the photos is of a young man on a table surrounded by food and wearing nothing else.  “Legends” is the story I wrote for that photo.  I believe you’ve posted the photo, Amara.

Amara: *laughs* Indeed I have.  I’ve always loved that one.  So, which character is your favorite, and why?

Kayla: Kendras, he’s hot.  Oh, sorry!  You mean which of the characters in “Legends.”

Amara: *laughs* I know right?!  *whispers* I love Kendras. *clears throat* sorry, didn’t mean to interrupt, so, yes, Legends

Kayla: I guess I would have to say Austin.  He has an assertive lover and is a bit unsure of himself, but he still puts himself in a slightly uncomfortable situation to please Jack.

Amara: *nods* Can’t wait to read about them.  *grins* If you’re characters were a desert, what would it be? Why?

Kayla:   The kouroi was quite literally dessert.   The finger food variety.
Jack and Austin…  Let’s see.  Jack is perfection.  Austin can’t manage it no matter how hard he tries.  Jack would be petit fours, all elegant and precise.  Austin would be apple crumb pie, the unpretentious boy next door.

Amara: Oooooh, yum… *laughs*

Ok, If your story came with a warning label, what would it be?

Kayla: Warning: For your safety, you should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by hot man on man on man sex.  Expectant mothers should consider if the benefits to your sex life outweigh the risk of spontaneous combustion.

Let’s just say that I’ve been told that I “give good mind f@(k.”

Amara: *laughs* Oh honey, I do so love a good mind fuck.  Ha, awesome.

So where do we find you online?

Kayla: I’m just getting published.  The anthology and my short story will be available through Breathless Press.  I don’t have much of an online presence yet, but if you are on FB please come and check out my FB author page.

Amara: *smiles* sooo awesome.  Now, let’s take a peek… and giveaway some goods, shall we?  Dooo lets!

Up for grabs is both a copy of the Anthology, Addicktion as well as a copy of Legends.  Yaaaay double giveaway.  You know the drill, leave a comment to enter, include your email please, and check out the details at the bottom of the post for the rest.  Giveaway will close 11:30pm PST June 2nd.

Ready…set… let’s play giveaway!

Blurb:  Austin feels plain and maybe even a bit unattractive, seemingly unable to choose the right clothing and his hair a disaster.  While Jack is always perfect.  Sometimes this makes Austin feel unsure of himself and Jack's affection.

Austin's lover, Jack, is assertive and at times a bit domineering, especially in bed.  This tendency in Jack, leaves Austin free to explore some aspects of his sexuality new to him.  But how would he feel about sharing Jack with another man?

Intent on finding out and in the process give Jack a magical evening, Austin arranges to celebrate Jack's birthday at the new concept restaurant Legends.  He has heard a lot about what to expect of this exclusive establishment, but will Legends be everything that he hopes for?

Excerpt from “Legends” featuring the photo that was the inspiration for the piece:

The room was amazing. The walls were a lush sunset red painted with imitation windows showing scenes from mythology. An inlayed stone mosaic of a scene I didn’t recognize and would have to ask Jack about covered the floor. I could only read a few of the Latin inscriptions. Amphorae in stands lined one wall. I was pleased to see none of them had flat bottoms. Some red-figure vases adorned a series of alcoves, but the piece de resistance lay in the dining area.

There were two plush coffee colored couches for reclining and a carved wooden table set in front of them. But probably the most striking thing in the room was the naked young man amidst the food, his smooth golden skin in bold contrast with the colorful food arrayed around him. His dark hair and eyes completed the vision of Mediterranean perfection.

I watched Jack recline on the couch and mirrored him. He plucked a grape from the table and pressed the sphere against my lips. I opened obediently for the fruit and pulled his long fingers into my mouth as well; licking and sucking on Jack’s fingers as he inhaled sharply through his slightly parted lips. The salt on his skin and the tart grape a perfect start to the evening.

When he withdrew his fingers, I swallowed the grape and reached for one of my own to feed to him.

The Greek god on the table chuckled and said, “If you keep that up, there will be no need for me.”

He began feeding us both tidbits from the table slowly exposing more of his smooth caramel skin as he did. His fingers brushed against my lips and periodically slipped into my mouth under the pretense of being licked clean. I could see he received the same treatment from Jack, murmuring his pleasure with every swipe of Jack’s tongue.

Kayla:  If we go much further, we get to that mind f*@k I mentioned earlier.

Amara: Ha! We’ll save that for the story. *winks*

Thanks darlin’. So glad you came by to chat, and congratulations again on your story release. *smiles* sooo awesome.

Later taters!
