Riptide Party Day 3: Aleksandr Voinov and Master Class by Rachel Haimowitz

Here we are, Day 3, and wow, what a great turn out so far. Thanks to all who have come to help me celebrate the coming awesomeness that is Riptide. You all are sooooo vera awesome.You're rockin' my socks hard.  I appreciate you.  Seriously.

Now, on with day 3. I'm totally stoked about today. Uber even.

Rachel's been hanging out, bringing the coolness, today it's Aleksandr Voinov's turn to come and dish the the Riptide goods. That rocks. The uber part... he's here to talk about the fantabulous Rachel Haimowitz and her upcoming book Master Class.

Two of mah  faves here at mah Place, at the same time. Know what I think about that? Well, I'll tell ya. I think that's... wait for it...waaait for it...

AweS000ME (<---sings that part)

Before I give Aleks the floor (*waves* Hi Aleks) I'd like to just say to Ms. Haimowitz..*wicked grin*...

*whispers to Rachel* ...Doooo it... whip him. If you didn't bring one, there's one over there *points* hanging on the wall. *winks* Get him.

*clears throat* Alright, and on that note... I give the Place over to the absotively posolutely fantabulous... Aleksandr Voinov... and Master Class.

Blurb: Broadway darling Nicky Avery is a shooting star by night, but by day he bounces from one heartless one-night stand to the next. A quick flogging, a rough lay, a new whip-hand to manipulate—yet still he yearns for something he cannot even name.

He finds his first true hint of satisfaction in Devon Turner, a self-possessed film star and expert Dom. Devon knows what he wants the moment he sees it, and what he wants is Nicky Avery. Nicky’s never learned to trust and has a nasty habit of topping from the bottom, but he learns fast that in the bedroom, Devon won’t tolerate his actor’s masks.
Nicky's a broken boy, but Devon knows exactly how to put his new sub back together. With patience, care, and all the punishments his little pain slut can handle, Devon breaks Nicky down one scene at a time, revealing a mind that yearns to trust and a heart that hungers for the ecstasy of true submission.

Aleksandr Voinov talks Master Class

Now, here’s a book I only acquired because somebody put a gun to my temple. Hah, kidding, no whipping, Rachel, I’ll play nice now!

Who wouldn’t want a super-charged, realistic BDSM novella that has two delectable characters exploring each other and the beginning of their Dom/sub relationship? I’ve read so much terrible BDSM with hackneyed emotions and terrible writing that Rachel Haimowitz’s Master Class wasn’t just a breath of fresh air—more like a hurricane.

From the moment she burst onto the stage, I’ve always been a fan of Rachel’s writing, from Counterpoint: Song of the Fallen #1 to Anchored: Belonging, so getting to read her stuff first is a huge thrill. It’s the “I’ve read something you guys can only read in a couple months” kick I get out of reading book written by author friends like Rachel. The reason why I’d buy anything from Rachel? She’s an incredibly strong, dynamic writer who’ll grab you and never let you go, and you’ll hit the words “The End” breathlessly begging for more.

With Rachel’s books in hand, sleep is definitely overrated. Master Class is an intense ride you can enjoy in an afternoon and that leaves the door wide open to sequels. The first part is all about the thrill of the hunt and chase; two strangers whose desires are complementary work out how to work with each other, and the risks and rewards are immense. These guys are meant for each other, but can they get past the blocks and walls we all put up to protect our emotions?

Master Class is also set to make Riptide history. It was the first book we acquired “for real” – the first contract that went out and one of those “oh wow, it’s actually happening!” moments. Every new publisher has to worry whether they can get enough quality to make it all worthwhile. With Rachel on board, I’m not worried in the least, though, and Riptide can be lucky to have her work – when much older and larger publishers want her just as bad. J

    I can just lick that cover all over... ◕‿◕ sexy~~ lol...
    Awesome Blurb too! This definitely sounds like a D/s story I'm gonna freaking love! I've read a few but not many I really like. Heh, The cover is already convincing me. This is one of those books that I just look at the cover and hit that 'purchase' button. lol...xD

    Soooo~ Looking forward to it!
    Many Congrats Aleks, Rachel!

  3. Good cover and blurb. Haven't read anything by Rachel, other than Dark Edge oH, but I will read this one.

    One question though, is there a estore on Riptide sites, cause I couldn't find one? Nor book prices either.

    Congrats to all at Riptide!

  4. I just had to come in and say I have no idea when Rachel ever finds the time to write. :D

  5. I agree with you Andrea.

    She has been busy with Crescendo and out of the blue comes out Master Class but based on the blurb....I might be wrong..but can I expect more of "sex on the stick" story here?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Between, please leave me out from this draw - I have Rachel's ebooks.

    Honestly, the ebooks covers ( all the 3 days so far ) are really eye catching and the blurb..oh my..what more can I say - interesting

    I hope you dont mind my question ..would the blurbs be the gist of the story? Lately, I have bought a few wonderfully written blurbs but the stories just not what I expected. These kind of put my ebooks purchase on hold until reviews are up.

  7. Hi all, and thanks for stopping by again today!

    @Loveless: That enticing cover was done by LC Chase, who's now done three of my book covers and somehow manages to outdo herself every time. Love love love her :D

    @Adara: Aww, thank you!

    @Boycop: I didn't write Dark Edge of Honor--that was two other Riptide authors, Aleksandr Voinov and Rhianon Etzweiler--but I'm always happy to be mistaken for such brilliant folks! ;D Re: the Riptide store, that opens on October 1. Pricing information will go up then too, but in the meanwhile you can find all the pricing info in our website FAQ. Look for the question "How do you set your prices?" under "Shopping with Riptide" in the "For Readers" section (sorry, I can't quite figure out how to link an individual question).

    @Andy: Lately, I haven't :( Once Crescendo edits are finished and Riptide is launched, though, I'm gonna be diving into a co-writing project with Cat Grant that we've just started referring to the Big Perv Book. It's . . . kinky ;D

    @Moniqee: Master Class definitely has a plot, but it's entirely relationship-focused. So the story arc is between the two men rather than outside forces. As for "sex on the stick"? Yeah, that's probably fair. Or rather, there are only two sex scenes, but they take up a lot of the percentage of the book because both (the second one in particular) are so heavily BDSM focused that they last a long time; Nicky doesn't get to come for ages.

    Re: the blurbs, the editors work very hard to deliver a compelling blurb that accurately reflects not just the contents of the story but also its tone. I don't think you'll ever look at one of our blurbs after you've finished the book and think, "What? That's not what the book's about at all!"

    And no, we don't mind your questions :D We're happy to chat--that's why we're here!

  12. Hi guys/gals!

    (I'm now here, after breakfast and quick shop for essentials (yes, I DID need shower gel). :)

    @SueM: From what I've seen of Crescendo, it's totally worth the wait.

    @Booklover: You could start in a much worse place to check out Rachel's stuff. This is intense and sexy.

    @Cherie: Okay, we'll let you off, this time. Hope you've been writing at least. :)

    @Kei: Hey, nice of you to check in. :)

  13. Hi please add me to the List. mlmhmzippy@yahoo.com

    I Found the world that Rachel created in Anchored: Belonging chilling. I read The book for fun but in the end it really made me think. So entering another world Built By this writer will be fun.

  14. Hey, just wanted to stop by and say "Hi!" cause this one sounds interesting (ok, so far they kind of all have, at some level at least...I dunno, maybe I'm feeling a little lukewarm about EVERYTHING right now -- and that was a family joke, so I'm *snickering* a little in my head and possibly had TOO MUCH sleep last night, if you can beieve it...)

    And I'm NOT entering the contest today; have everything but Crescendo already.

    (Also, I must LOL at the word verification -- "oxicken" -- sounds like a cross between an ox and a chicken. HELLA big eggs that beast lays, feed my family for a WEEK, I betcha!! :D )

    ReplyDelete
  15. OOhhh, this one sounds....can you call a BDSM story yummy??? Aleks, never got to tell you how much I enjoyed DEoH! Rachael, was disappointed about Crescendo's delay but it was already pre-ordered so I think I'll survive!

    I do have a question about Rip Tide's catalogue...the releases thus far seem to be short stories or novellas. Will we be seeing nice big juicy novels as well (my favs!)?

    Love you all to pieces, so glad to see this taking off so beautifully after all your hard work!! Amara, thanks for hosting the party *hands the hostess a bottle of wine* Huggs & kisses to everyone (esp. poor Aleks if he's getting a whippin!)

  16. Mickie - you might be interested in "Counterpunch", my novel set in Rachel's world. But yeah, if you enjoyed Anchored: Belonging, you'll probably like Master Class (although the BDSM is strictly consensual and both guys are completely into it - not something you could say of Daniel :) ).

    @Tracy - thanks for stopping by. :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hi Susie - thanks for your kind words. Regarding the length of the stories, it's a mixed bag - we have short stories, novellas and novels, as we accept whatever "our" writers send us and that covers a wide range of stuff. We don't discriminate based on length.

    Regarding "Dark Edge of Honor" - thanks, that's awesome to hear. Can I ask you to leave a review somewhere (Goodreads or Amazon)? We've recently had some review trolls slamming the book everywhere, so everybody who says they enjoyed it would make a huge difference right now.

  24. Ohhh, I might have to enter the BDSM world just for this one! It's weird, because I enjoy Dom/sub books but can't get myself to enjoy BDSM on a greater level (although I do read and enjoy them from time to time). The blurb though... It makes my angst taste buds go on overdrive. Gonna have to forego waiting for the reviews and just buy this blind. But from what everyone's saying, though, I have no doubts that I'll enjoy this. *grins*

    Also, I'd love to be entered in the drawing! :)

    Rachel--I love your work--it is genuinely compelling and and sexy as well as compassionate and multi-faceted--your characters are rich and full-bodied much like a fine wine! I come back for glass after glass!

    Aleks,

    I look forward to reading one of your novels--just about to take a trip to Amazon to chose one--thanks so much for taking the leap into what is now Riptide--this reader is really happy you took the risk!

  31. @Diannakay – thanks! We’re blessed with some of the absolute top talent, and there will be more. :)

    @Susie – thanks! (Hey, life does get in the way, I know THAT feeling. :) )

    @Peter – yep, I’m a fan, too. :)

    @Tracy – Yep, Amara is a force of nature. :)

    @Heather – Thanks for stopping by!

    @Beatrice – You won’t be disappointed. It’s very hot and very much about the mindset that is behind BDSM. Why do people want to take/give up control?

    @Wendy – This one is definitely vintage Haimowitz. :)

    @LaCrimsonFemme – There will be more in the series. Nicky and Devon aren’t done with each other after this, not by a long shot.

    @Brenda - thanks for stopping by! (Tiding you over? LOL, there’s a logline we didn’t think of, I’ll steal that :) )

    @Carole-Ann – Crescendo will be out in around November. Personally, that is when I’ll re-read Counterpoint, just to read them both back to back.

    @Sammy – thanks! Riptide is definitely a Publisher With A Mission, and we’ll do everything to fulfil that mission. If you want to check out my style, I’d suggest “Scorpion” first and foremost, but “Counterpunch” turned out pretty well, too.

    @Wendy: LOL Thanks for coming by :D

    @LCF: I gotch'ya down. Thanks for coming :)

    @Brenda: Lol you sound like me. Nov. just can't get here soon enough!

    @Carole-Ann: Lolol Love it. :)

    @sammy: OMG Inorite? If opening day doesn't get here soon, I think I'm going to explode. Srsly. And yeah, I second what Aleks said, check out Scorpion... OMG it rocks! I've got all kinds of Aleks goodies throughout the blog if you'd like to check any out. Interviews and stuff like that. Even got to interview Kendras from Scorpion, that was fun. He's got his own page up there at the top. I'm kind of hardcore Aleks reader. Just... a tad. :D :D :D

    @Tiffany: Thanks for coming by today!

    Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend. Thanks so much for coming to party with us! :D

  46. Hi. I'm back again today to see what's happening. I've read of few of Rachel's books so far and have enjoyed every last one (Where He Belongs, Anchored). Master Class sounds great.

    I agree; there are so many god- awful BDSM stories out there - it's almost mind boggling! I read something yesterday (I'll play nice and not mention the author) and I couldn't believe what I was reading. It was so evident that the author had no idea what BDSM was about and either didn't do any research or did some very poor research. I actually deleted it from my nook and I almost never delete stuff from there...

    Anyway, Rachel is a breath of fresh air and I can't wait to read Master Class.

    And congrats to all for Riptide!

  48. Tiffany – thanks! Having read and edited it, I believe it’s a keeper. :)

    Alex – It’s definitely fulfilling those expectations. :)

    Veronica – I’m exactly the same with her stuff. I’m a pretty hardcore fan. :)

    Kari – certainly did mine. :)

    June – Rachel is the queen of hot BDSM. You can’t go wrong with her.

    Bookwyrm – excellent, let us know how you liked it. :)

    Tracy – I find it pretty difficult to remember what I own and what I’m missing, to be honest. I do rely a fair bit on Goodreads.

    Amanda – Just a few more weeks now. :)

    CAS – well, I did expect to be slapped for the hurricane metaphor, as Rachel went under Irene when it hit…

    MJB – Yes, Rachel’s books are always worth reading, her fantasy novels are pretty good, too, and I’m lucky enough to have read even an unpublished thriller (that I hope somebody buys soon). I honestly can’t read bad BDSM. I always cringe at the psychos and idjits in those stories. Nobody responds like that! (People seem to think just because it’s BDSM, they don’t actually need to do research…. Which, yeah, is wrong.) If anything, if it has BDSM on the warnings, I tend to be even more skeptical – there are only a few, very few, authors that can do BDSM well. The others are just trying to make a quick buck on shoddy research. Needless to say, Riptide will never publishing stuff like that. Ever, ever.

    Sarah – hey, but you made it in the end. :) Thanks for dropping by!
