Riptide Party Day 5: Aleksandr Voinov and Surprises by Brita Addams

*gasp* I am sooooo excited for this one. Ok, I'm so excited for all of them, but this one is one of the ones I'm uber excited for. Excited over much. Not only does it sound so vera good and have a beautimus cover that floats mah little suitporn lovin' boat but I just adore Brita Addams and I am sooooo happy for her that she is in the Riptide first wave line up.  I think that rocks. Hard.

Aaaand as in keeping with this week's little party here, having Aleks and Rachel talk about all these little gems is definitely freaking out my "OMG give it to me now, much with the grabby hands" thing. I swear, when this pre-party started I just didn't think I could be more excited. I was wrong. I am just damn impressed and getting more excited every day. Seriously. That's actually kinda scary, it's only day 5. By day 8...  I could very well self combust, or blow myself up with my own claymores or ... something.

And I'm rambling. Again. I shall zip it, and actually let Aleks do his thing. That would be good.

Welcome back Aleks. You too Brita m'dear, I do so love when you come play blog with me *whispers* you rock.

Ok Amara, shhhhhh.  Yeah, here's me shushing... Ready, set... go!

eBook release: Oct 30 2011
Word count: 5,900
Page count: 25
SeriesRomeo Club
Heat Wave: 5 - Very explicit love scenes
Erotic Frequency: 5 - Lots and lots!
Type: Part of a Series
The Blurb: Smart, successful, handsome, and thoroughly sick of the club scene, Don ventures into a popular upscale dating service. Aroused and intrigued by the boldfaced sexual queries on the Romeo Club’s application, he finds himself embellishing one answer after the next. Don thinks he’s taking control of his fate, but when he’s done, he ends up turning over a lot more than just his questionnaire to the dominant Adonis who runs the service.
In a private back room, beneath the snick of handcuffs, the slide of silk over his eyes, and not one hot mouth but two upon his skin, Don learns just how much more than matchmaking the Romeo Club has to offer a guy who doesn’t mind a few surprises.

Aleksandr Voinov talks Romeo Club

I immediately liked Brita Addams’s idea of a dating service that also provides for the fantasies of its members. Much erotica has no frame of reference and doesn’t make much sense by the light of day. I like “stroke fiction” as much as anybody else, but I do like things to make sense, and I prefer at least something of a grounding in reality – meaning, people still respond like people in sexy situations.

With her Romeo Club series, Brita is exploring sexual fantasies that people enact in the safety of this dating service, and that concept worked really well for me for a series of erotica short stories. We get the fantasy but none of the suspension of disbelief that a lot of other short erotica requires. The people are real people with their own issues, with hesitations and worries and baggage, and they are still getting their rocks off just fine.

If it were visual porn, the Romeo Club series would be filed under the “amateur” category on any site. Normal people having sex and enjoying themselves, keyword being “people,” not the millionth porn clone that looks exactly like all the others. Also, of course, the short stories are hot, the writing is crisp and authentic, and the characters are real. Now here’s a date that should put a smile on any reader’s face. :)

I didn't have enough sleep last night to cope with all of this this morning. *sigh*

Go ahead and enter me in, anyway, just for the heck of it!!

(PS -- whenever you talk about claymores, my mind automatically goes to the Scottish sword. When they explode...well, let's just say that Google is my friend. I'm also really REALLY tired.)

Absolutely, this is hot and well-written, and it has BDSM, and, uhm, men with good dress senses (I'll admit to my massive suit kink if asked...).

Aleks.. Aleks.. What can I say? Leave it a man who knows HIS suits to be able spot quality tailoring when he sees it. :)

  20. Aww, Aleks and Rachel, Thanks so much.

Yeah, I was excited when I saw the cover. Each of the Romeo Club shorts will have the same cover, but the tie color will be different.

CAS, I don't feel stuck with you! Hugs back.

    AND *rolls in the cake*

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR AMARA, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.

  22. LOLZ@Amara -- Sorry, I don't do coffee! It *always* tastes bitter, no matter how much I try to sweeten/disguise it. I can't even eat tiramisu, which KILLS me. Or red-eye gravy, which kills me more. *pout*

and my word wasn't interesting this a.m. -- it's just *odd* right now, tho -- rerchi? Sounds like a cat thro--you know what? Let's not go there. Instead, let us off to McD's or someplace for a ginormous Coke (my caffeine of choice).

    :D

Are we having fun, or what!?

    ReplyDelete
  23. @Aleks -- I have yet to meet IRL a man with good dress sense, so I'm taking other people's word that such a thing exists. (Thankfully, I *do* get to see some well-tailored Class A's on a reasonably regular basis...*ahem* never mind.)

(@Amara-- this time it's sarces. Sounds like somebody from my native mountains saying "sources." Yep, big ol' redneck is mah Daddy!:D)

  30. I can relate to the comment about some erotica not making sense in the light of day. And it does make for a better read when things do add up and make some kind of sense. I have to mark this book down on my wishlist.

  34. This new series sounds good. I love a good short story sometimes, and m/m BDSM just makes me happy! And I love that all the covers will include the same pic, just with different colored ties. Will they need to be read in order, or will they be stand alones?
Thanks for the chance to win a backlist *crossing fingers*.

Already said it on FB, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY Amara! You shar a b-day with my little nephew!

  35. Really really looking forward to this one. I loved free me. And the premise of this series sounds great. Shorts stories are good but some times lack things have a specific setting should give the story grounding.
