Aaaand as in keeping with this week's little party here, having Aleks and Rachel talk about all these little gems is definitely freaking out my "OMG give it to me now, much with the grabby hands" thing. I swear, when this pre-party started I just didn't think I could be more excited. I was wrong. I am just damn impressed and getting more excited every day. Seriously. That's actually kinda scary, it's only day 5. By day 8... I could very well self combust, or blow myself up with my own claymores or ... something.
And I'm rambling. Again. I shall zip it, and actually let Aleks do his thing. That would be good.
Welcome back Aleks. You too Brita m'dear, I do so love when you come play blog with me *whispers* you rock.
Ok Amara, shhhhhh. Yeah, here's me shushing... Ready, set... go!

The Blurb: Smart, successful, handsome, and thoroughly sick of the club scene, Don ventures into a popular upscale dating service. Aroused and intrigued by the boldfaced sexual queries on the Romeo Club’s application, he finds himself embellishing one answer after the next. Don thinks he’s taking control of his fate, but when he’s done, he ends up turning over a lot more than just his questionnaire to the dominant Adonis who runs the service.
In a private back room, beneath the snick of handcuffs, the slide of silk over his eyes, and not one hot mouth but two upon his skin, Don learns just how much more than matchmaking the Romeo Club has to offer a guy who doesn’t mind a few surprises.

I immediately liked Brita Addams’s idea of a dating service that also provides for the fantasies of its members. Much erotica has no frame of reference and doesn’t make much sense by the light of day. I like “stroke fiction” as much as anybody else, but I do like things to make sense, and I prefer at least something of a grounding in reality – meaning, people still respond like people in sexy situations.
With her Romeo Club series, Brita is exploring sexual fantasies that people enact in the safety of this dating service, and that concept worked really well for me for a series of erotica short stories. We get the fantasy but none of the suspension of disbelief that a lot of other short erotica requires. The people are real people with their own issues, with hesitations and worries and baggage, and they are still getting their rocks off just fine.
If it were visual porn, the Romeo Club series would be filed under the “amateur” category on any site. Normal people having sex and enjoying themselves, keyword being “people,” not the millionth porn clone that looks exactly like all the others. Also, of course, the short stories are hot, the writing is crisp and authentic, and the characters are real. Now here’s a date that should put a smile on any reader’s face. :)
Brita Addams backlist book of choice: Serenity’s Dream, Lord Decadent’s Obsession, Chocolate, Tea and the Duchess, The Rogue’s Salvation, Love Immortal, Free Me
